One of Dr. Jen McGivern’s favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is the human-animal bond and the important role pets play in the family. As your veterinarian, she believes her job is to help preserve that bond. Whether it is caring for them when they are sick or through annual wellness examinations and preventive care, she can work together with you to help your pet live a long and healthy life. Dr. McGivern is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and moved to Arizona in May 2007. She received her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 2003. In 2007, she received her DVM from Iowa State University and joined Family VetCare following graduation. Dr. McGivern’s areas of special interest include surgery and emergency medicine; however, everything about veterinary medicine is of interest! She shares her home with her pooch, “Kia Sophia,” a mixed-breed dog. In her spare time, she enjoys running and hiking, rock climbing, and scuba diving.
